Nuts can be a super convenient snack for staying keto while on the go. I like to keep small pre-portioned bags of nuts in my purse so I have something easy to eat when I get hungry while out and about. Be warned! Nuts vary in fat, protein, and carb counts so it's important to know what you are eating. Don't blindly grab any old nut thinking they are the same macros as a different nut.
Here is the breakdown of some of the more common nuts' macros:
Peanuts (1 ounce) 14g fat, 7g protein, 5g carbs, 2g fiber = 3 net carbs
Walnuts (1 ounce) 10g fat, 2g protein, 2g carbs, 1g fiber = 1 net carb
Cashews (1 ounce) 7g fat, 3g protein, 3g carbs, 0g fiber = 3 net carbs
Brazil Nuts (1 ounce) 8g fat, 1g protein, 1g carbs, 0g fiber = 1 net carb
Almonds (1 ounce) 14g fat, 5g protein, 6g carbs, 3g fiber = 3 net carbs
*Please note, you should always double check packaging to see the nutrition information of the brand you are buying. I used MyFitnessPal to pull this information together but brands do vary.
