All About My Journey So Far...

Hello Friends!

I grew up fairly active and never had to worry about my weight. Eating whatever and whenever I wanted was never an issue. I stayed thin throughout my childhood and into my late teens. That all came to a screeching halt once I got pregnant with my first child. Suddenly, the pounds started packing on and they didn't just fall off like before. It seemed like everything I ate went straight to fat building. But I LOVED food so much! I couldn't just put down the fork and exercise. I wrongly assumed that after having the baby I would "bounce" right back. That's what everyone around me was saying. Well, you guessed it, it didn't. The weight just hung right on for dear life. Thus started the never ending weight loss / weight gain cycle.

I have tried anything and everything to lose weight and keep it off. I tried Weight Watchers (which works great for many people), I tried fad diets (no one wants to eat cabbage soup every meal!), major calorie restrictions, and more. Nothing worked long term for me! I have four children and each pregnancy has changed by body and weight.

Ketogenic eating came to me through various YouTube videos, friends talking about it, and various other avenues within a short time that I felt like I wanted to try it. I started it full force in January 2019. To date I've lost about 25 pounds (April 2019)! I don't feel hungry and I have lots of energy! I personally have dealt with PCOS for many years and I had gestational diabetes, so I was told I'm at a higher risk to develop diabetes later on in life. I am not a doctor and I don't play one on TV. I am not telling anyone to follow my eating plan or change their diet until they talk with their doctor about the plan and make sure it's a good fit for them. This blog is simply my journey to become healthy and tips and tricks I've picked up over time to help me stay on track.

I am not perfect at the plan, I do have "cheat" meals from time to time. HOWEVER, I always have a plan to get back on track. I plan my cheat meals. I know exactly what I'm going to eat and what the follow up meals will be. And I don't do cheat meals often. I have done maybe 2 since starting the keto system of eating. There are certain meals that aren't keto that I love and occasionally I will eat them. I don't miss most foods that I used to eat, it's not tempting to eat a bunch of carbs now that I'm keto adapted.

I hope you will go on this journey with me and see what I'm doing and how I'm sticking to my new keto lifestyle!

Jaki
